This beautifully simple White Glaze Shiboridashi set is perfect for enjoying high quality Japanese tea
The Shiboridashi is made in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture and is for drinking high-grade tea at low temperatures. It squeezes out to the last drop, hence the name "shiboridashi". There is no need for a net to strain the tea, and the tea is served in small portions through the groove part of the spout.
The yusamashi is for cooling hot water in order to brew tea at a low temperature.
The "Yusamashi" is not used for drinking tea, but for cooling the water to a temperature suitable for brewing various types of tea, so one is used for one "Kyusu" or "Shiboridashi".
The small cup allows us to enjoy not only the taste but also the aroma of high-grade tea. It is also referred to as "Gyokuro Wan"
