We have worked closely with Fukuoka prefecture for the last 9 years & since 2025 on a specific project supporting organic tea. In this session we invite you to explore the teas from this region
- You will receive the teas to taste in the session by post. Tea will be provided as a pre-filled tea filter for one serving of tea that you can either transfer to your teaware or enjoy in your cup [no additional teaware required]. All joining instructions will be included in the package and also via email. Please therefore book at least 3 days in advance
- Spaces are limited to 8 people
BACKGROUND TO OUR WORK WITH FUKUOKA
The history of tea in Yame tea from Fukuoka prefecture dates back to 1423. Today it produces nationally recognised premium quality tea underpinned by dedicated tea farmers working in a beautiful natural environment. However the number of tea producers is declining and when this is combined with an ageing population this

Fukuoka prefecture are on a mission to secure its future by introducing more people to the unique teas of this region & further promoting Yame tea culture overseas. Since 2024 we have been working closely with the prefecture to promote the teas & crafts of this region - a project led by Hiroshi Morodomi who describes the objectives as 'ensuring the sustainability of Yame tea, the community of its farmers and its environment’ Hiroshi Morodomi adds ‘From 2025 Fukuoka Pref. Govt. is encouraging more tea farmers to farm organically as we believe they will have a good future through high quality organic Yame tea. Our project aims not only to highlight "Yame tea", but also showcase the knowledge of the people and the environment of Yame region”
