Black Cat Plate  : Lu Dan Cheng's Studio Jingdezhen

Following our 2024 trip to Jingdezhen we are delighted to be able to bring you a number of pieces from Lu Dan Cheng's Studio 

And what a beautiful studio this is.  Situated right by the river in Jingdezhen Lu Dan Cheng works quietly in this serene space predominantly using a grey clay - alternating glazes dependant on the clay used.   His whole style is about making his pieces looked aged 'as if they have lived'. 

Upstairs, away from his more traditional works we found a team painting these beautiful cat plates - they are so uplifting and fun - we couldn't resist offering some of our favourites.  We often place our teapots or gaiwan on these plates when making tea and think of Lu Dan Cheng and the beautiful cat who lives with him in his studio
