How to make Gunpowder Tea

 

Amount of tea per serving (200 ml): 5g (one tea caddy spoon / 2 teaspoons)

 

Temperature of water: 80℃ / 176℉ (boil kettle, cool for 40 seconds)

 

Infusion time: 1 - 3 minutes as desired

 

Number of infusions: 3

Gunpowder Tea Origin: Jiouli tea farm near Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Eastern China.

Known as "Zhu Cha" in chinese, Gunpowder dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907). It's name is believed to come from the fact that the tea resembles gunpowder pellets used for cannons. However, a different theory is that it may come from the Mandarin Chinese term gāng paò dè, which means "freshly brewed".

Gunpowder Tea Flavour: Gunpowder green tea makes a warm amber coloured liquor. It has has a lovely fresh, sweet fragrance. The flavour is smooth and soft with a hint of sweetness. Its fresh green flavour offers a slight trace of astringency. Gunpowder makes an refreshing afternoon tea.
