Tea Travels : Spring 2022 : A month in Darjeeling

Here at Comins we are starting to receive and enjoy new teas from the new season - we are excited to share a few of these below.  We are also preparing for our first tea trip for several years.
.
On 23rd May we will travel to Darjeeling for a month - taking the whole family with us.  If you know us then you know that for us Darjeeling is a very special place both personally & professionally.  Many of our great tea friends in tea are in Darjeeling & since the sudden passing of Michelle's mum just before the pandemic she has wanted to return to this area and give personal thanks to many of the people who helped her through such difficult times.  The trip will see us cover a lot of ground and we will of course be sharing our journey with you all along the way on our social media channels - more details below.  The Tea Houses will close during this time but Antonia, Annalise & Tamzin will be fulfilling online orders [Comins.com will very much remain open] and will also use the time to give our Bath Tea House a thorough refresh & re-organise.  We are of course only an email away for any queries you may have on tea or teaware  More details on the closing & re-opening dates are below - don't fear there are still a few weeks to come and enjoy Comins before this month long break.

What we will be working on

Over the course of a month our aim is to delve more deeply into the topics outlined above.  Travelling from garden to garden we will seek to give practical examples of how terroir impacts tea profile.  We will hear the opinions of those working in tea on topics such as biodynamic and organic agriculture, soil and sustainability.  Trips to research institutes & the university will see us investigate tea chemistry in more detail something we are incredibly interested to learn more about.  We will share our journey through our social media channels [blogs on facebook and twitter and more dynamic daily content on Instagram - we hope you can join

As outlined above both Tea Houses will close during our time in India.
In Bath : This means that after Saturday 21st May [we will open 11-5pm as normal on this day] we will be closed until Tuesday 28th June [when we will reopen 11-5pm] : there may be the possibility of opening as a retail only shop on Saturdays - stay tuned to our social media for more details
In Dorset : This means that after Friday 20th May [we will open 11-3pm as normal on this day]  we will be closed until Thursday 30th June [when we will reopen 11-3pm]

The reason for this closure is that we feel it is too much to ask our brilliant team to run the Tea Houses alone [for example we usually do all of the baking at the Dorset Tea House] .

Comins Online : As outlined above Antonia, Annalise & Tamzin will be fulfilling online orders [Comins.com will very much remain open] and will also use the time to give our Bath Tea House a thorough refresh & re-organise.  We are of course only an email away for any queries you may have on tea or tea ware & will have many exciting events to invite you to when we return.
